Prophetic Guidance Regarding the Excellence of Reciting the Qur'an

Prophetic Guidance Regarding the Excellence of Reciting the Qur'an
by Imam Nawawi
Translated by Ustadha Ayesha Bewley

From Imam Nawawi's Gardens of the Righteous
180. On the Excellence of reciting the Qur'an

991. Abu Umama said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Recite the Qur'an. It will appear on the Day of Rising as an intercessor for its people.'" [Muslim]
992. an-Nawwas ibn Sam'an said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'On the Day of Rising the Qur'an will be brought with the people who used to act by it in this world, preceded by Surat al-Baqara (2) and Ali 'Imran (3), arguing on behalf of those who knew them.'" [Muslim]
993. 'Uthman reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The best of you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it." [al-Bukhari]
994. 'A'isha reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Someone who recites the Qur'an and is fluent in it, is with the noble pious angels. Someone who recites the Qur'an and stammers in it has two rewards as it is difficult for him." [Agreed upon]
995. Abu Musa al-Ash'ari reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The metaphor of a believer who recites the Qur'an is that of a citron - its scent is fragrant and its taste is good. The metaphor of a believer who does not recite the Qur'an is that of a date - it has no scent but its taste is sweet. The metaphor of a hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is that of basil - its scent is fragrant but its taste is bitter. The metaphor of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is that of colocynth - it has no scent and its taste is bitter." [Agreed upon]
996. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "By this Book Allah elevates some people and abases others." [Muslim]
997. Ibn 'Umar reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "You can only have envy for two things: for a man to whom Allah has given the Qur'an and he gets up and recites it throughout the night, and for a man to whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it throughout the night and the day." [Agreed upon]
998. Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib said, "A man was reciting Surat al-Kahf (18) and he had a horse with him tethered by two ropes. Then a cloud came over him and began to draw near and his horse began to shy away from it. In the morning he went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned that to him and he said, 'That was the Sakina which descended on account of the Qur'an.'" [Agreed upon]
999. Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Whoever recites a letter of the Book of Allah earns a good deed, and each good deed is worth ten like it. I do not say that 'Alif-lam-mim' is one letter, but thatalif is a letter, lam is a letter, mim is a letter." [at-Tirmidhi]
1000. Ibn 'Abbas stated that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A person who has nothing of the Qur'an inside him is like a ruined house." [at-Tirmidhi]
1001. 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "It will be said to those who know the Qur'an, 'Recite and ascend. Recite slowly as you did in the world below. Your station will be at the last verse you recite.'" [Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi]

Islam >>OUR GOD - AL-LAAH: "Aamantu Bil-Laahi" (I believed in Allah).

Q 1: What should be the belief of Muslims about Allah?
A:
1. It should be the firm belief of Muslims that Allah is One; He has no partner whatsoever; He alone is worthy of worship; neither He begot nor He is begotten and none is comparable or equal to Him in any way.
2. Allah possesses every kind of superiority and every attribute of perfection and no defect and deficient attribute whatsoever exists in Him.
3. He is all free and independent and all the worlds are subservient to Him.
4. He is "Eternal in the beginning and Eternal in the end" when there was nothing He was
and when there will be nothing He will be. His attributes are also eternal like His "Eternal Person".
5. He is "Haie-yu Qaie-yoom". He is eternally immortal and keeps His creatures alive. He gives life and causes death as and when He wills.
6. He is "Qadeer" i.e. All Powerful (Omnipotent) and has absolute dominion over everything. He does what He wills. There is none to dominate Him.
7. He is Samee' (All Hearing). He hears voice of His every creature even the sound of creeping of an ant and of the movement of wings of a mosquito.
8. He is "Baseer" (All Seeing). He sees everything regardless of big or small, near or distant and in light or in dark. Nothing is hidden from Him.
9. He is 'Aleem (All Knowing, Omniscient). He knows each and everything irrespective of what is happening, what has happened and what will happen. He knows our words, deeds, intentions and what is hidden in our breast. Even the tiniest particle of dust is not beyond His Omniscience.
10. All men and matter are subservient to His will. Each and everything happens according
to His will and nothing takes place against His will. Even no bird can fly and particle of sand move without His will.
11. He alone is the Creator of everything. What we do is all the creation of Allah. He is the Sole Creator of all the worlds and of whatever they contain irrespective of big or small. If He wills to create anything He simply says "Kun" (be) and that immediately comes into being.
12. He is "Razzaaq"(Provider of Subsistence). He provides subsistence, livelihood and all necessary things to His creatures regardless of mankind and animals and big or small to sustain them. He alone is the Sovereign Lord of all the universes. He also speaks. All the revealed books including the Glorious Qur-aan are His "Kalaam" (speech, words).
Q 2: With which thing(s) does Allah Almighty see and hear?
A. The attributes of Allah are as much unique and subtle as He is Himself. Undoubtedly, He sees, hears and speaks but unlike humanbeings since He is free of the organs of sight, hearing and speech and so is His "Kalaam" which does not need letters and sounds.

Islam >>"TAHAARAH" (PURIFICATION): THE FIRST REQUISITE FOR PRAYER

Q 1: What does "Tahaarah" mean?
A. Tahaarah means that the body and cloths of the believer who intends to offer prayer must be free of filth/impurity and place should also be clean and pure.
Q 2: How many kinds of "Tahaarah" are there?
A. There are two kinds of Tahaarah i.e. minor purification and major purification. Minor
purification is "Wudu"(ablution) and major is "Ghusl" (bath).
The things which make ablution obligatory are called "Tahaarat-e-Sughraa"(impurities) and which make bath obligatory are called "Tahaarat-e-Kubra" (grave impurity i.e.filth).
Q 3: How many kinds of impurity are there?
A. Impurity is of two kinds i.e. invisible and visible.
Q 4: What is invisible impurity?
A. Invisible impurity is that impurity which can not be seen but according to Shariat it is impurity. For example, to be without ablution or without bath.
Q 5: What is the method of purifying oneself from invisible impurity?
A. If one needs ablution he should perform it, if needs bath should do it to purify himself from invisible impurity.
Q 6: What is visible impurity?
A. Visible impurity is filth which sticks to the body or cloth and is also seen like urine, faeces etc.
Q 7: How many kinds of visible impurity are there?
A. Visible impurity is of two kinds i.e. filth and impurity. There is strict injunction for filth and lenient injunction for impurity.
Q 8: What injunction is there for filth?
A. If filth sticks to the body or cloth(s) larger (more)than that of a "Dirham" (small silver coin), its removal and purification is Fard(obligatory). Without purification prayer will not be valid. If it is equivalent to "Dirham", its removal and purification is "Wajib" (essential). Offering of prayer with such filth will invalidate the prayer and it will have to be repeated after bath and washing of cloths as the case may be. In case the filth is less than "Dirham" its removal and purification is "Sunnat" (practice of the Holy Prophet). Offering of prayer in this condition will be in order but against the Sunnat. Hence it is desirable to repeat the prayer?
Q 9: To which thing is "Dirham" equivalent in Pakistan?
A. "Dirham" is equivalent to 4 1/2 "Mashah" in case the impurity is thick. A "Mashah" is equal in weight to 16 grains.
If the filth is in liquid form like urine or wine then the "Dirham" size will be equivalent to the depression of a palm i.e. silver rupee of Pakistan.
Q10: What injunction is there for impurity?
A. It is no matter if a portion of cloth or a limb of the body is polluted less than l/4th by impurity, but in case of equivalent to l/4th, the removal and washing of impurity is Wajib(essential) and if it is more than a quarter then to purify it is Fard obligatory) otherwise prayer will not be valid.
Q11: What injunction is there for filth if falls into any liquid edible thing?
A. Falling of filth (even a drop) irrespective of light or grave impurity into any liquid edible stuff will render the whole quantity impure.
Q12: Which things are filth?
A. These things are filth: Urine, faeces, flowing flood, pus, mouthful vomit, water comes from infected eye (s), dung and urine of those animals whose flesh is unlawful for food, dung of horse and all other lawful animals, droppings of hen and duck, every kind of urine, pork, bone, hairs, blood of lizard and chameleon, spittle of beasts and animals etc.
It is clarified that urine and vomit of suckling baby are also grave impurity.
Q13: Which things are impurity?
A. These things are impurity: Urine of those animals whose flesh is lawful for food and of horse and droppings of unlawful birds. Falling of filth into impurity will render all filthy.
Q14: What is the method of purifying the body or cloth from filth?
A. Wash thrice if the filth is in liquid form. Squeeze cloth every time and wash hands. Last (third) time after washing it Squeeze so well that there is left no drop of water therein. In case of thick filth like dung, blood, faeces etc. remove it well with water and then wash the cloth as many times as needed.

Everything glorifies Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and to Him belongs the sovereignty

I take refuge with Allaah from the accursed devil.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem: In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
Welcome to my blog and praise the Magnificent Lord as you enter: Allahu Akbar: Allah is the Greatest .
May the Peace and Blessing of Allah Azza wa Jal, our Lord Glorified and Praised be He, be upon our beloved  Prophet, his Family, and Companions.
Everything glorifies Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and to Him belongs the sovereignty.
(41. See you not that Allah, He it is Whom glorify whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, and the birds with wings outspread Of each one He knows indeed his Salah and his glorification; and Allah is All-Aware of what they do.)
 وَللَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضِ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ الْمَصِيرُ
(42. And to Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and to Allah is the return.)
Surah 24 An Noor Verse 41-42
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah tells us that whosoever is in the heavens and on the earth, i.e., the angels, mankind, Jinn, animals and even inanimate objects, all glorify Him. This is like the Ayah:
(The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein, glorify Him) [17:44],
(and the birds with wings outspread) means, while they are flying they glorify their Lord and worship Him with the glorification with which they are inspired and to which they are guided. Allah knows what they are doing, and so He says:
(Of each one He knows indeed his Salah and his glorification;) meaning, He has guided every creature to its own way of worshipping Allah, may He be glorified. Then Allah tells us that He knows all of that and nothing at all is hidden from Him. He says:
(and Allah is All-Aware of what they do.) Then Allah tells us that to Him belongs the sovereignty of heaven and earth, and that He is the Ruler and Controller, the God Who is worshipped and besides Whom none other is to be worshipped, and there is none to put back His judgement.
(and to Allah is the return) means, on the Day of Resurrection, when He will judge as He wills,
(that He may requite those who do evil with that which they have done…) [53:31] He is the Creator and Sovereign, and His is indeed the Authority in this world and the next. To Him be praise at the beginning and in the end.

Allah, Sublime and Exalted, sent his messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, with guidance and truth

Allah, Sublime and Exalted, sent his messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, with guidance and truth.
(28. He it is Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it superior to all religions. And All-Sufficient is Allah as a Witness.)
Surah 48 Al Fath Verse 28
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
(He it is Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth,) with beneficial knowledge and righteous good deeds. Indeed, the Islamic Shari`ah has two factors, knowledge and deeds. The true religious knowledge is by definition true, and the accepted Islamic acts are by definition accepted. Therefore, the news and creed that this religion conveys are true and its commandments are just,
(that He may make it superior to all religions.) all the religions of the people of the earth, Arabs and non-Arabs alike, whether having certain ideologies or being atheists or idolators.
(And All-Sufficient is Allah as a Witness.) that Muhammad is His Messenger and that He will grant him victory. Allah the Exalted and Most Honored has the best knowledge.

A messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, from among yourselves

A messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, fom among yourselves.
(128. Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger from among yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He is eager for you; for the believers [he is] full of pity, kind, and merciful.)
 (129. But if they turn away, say: “Allah is sufficient for me. There is no God but He, in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”)
Surah 9 At Tawba Verse 128-129
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
(I was sent with the easy Hanifiyah [monotheism] way.) An authenic Hadith mentions,
(Verily, this religion is easy) and its Law is all easy, lenient and perfect. It is easy for those whom Allah the Exalted makes it easy.)
(He is eager for you), that you gain guidance and acquire benefits in this life and the Hereafter. Imam Ahmad recorded that `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said that the Messenger of Allah said,
(Verily, every matter that Allah has prohibited, He knows that some among you will breach it; but I am indeed holding you by the waist so that you do not fall in the Fire, just like butterflies and flies.) Allah’s statement next,
(for the believers (he is) full of pity, kind, and merciful.) [9:128], is similar to His other statement,
(And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. Then if they disobey you, say: “I am innocent of what you do.” And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful) [26:215-217]. Allah the Exalted commanded His Messenger in this honorable Ayah,
(But if they turn away), from the glorious, pure, perfect and encompassing Law that you — O Muhammad — brought them,
(then say: “Allah is sufficient for me. There is no God but He,) Allah is sufficient for me, there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, and in Him I put my trust. Similarly, Allah said,
((He alone is) the Lord of the east and the west; there is no God but He. So take Him alone as a guardian.) [73:9]. Allah said next,
(and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne) [9:129]. He is the King and Creator of all things, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne (`Arsh), which is above all creation; all that is in and between the heavens and earths is under the Throne (`Arsh) and subservient to Allah’s power. His knowledge encompasses all things, and His decision will certainly come to pass over all matters. He is the guardian of all things. Imam Ahmad recorded that Ibn `Abbas said that Ubayy bin Ka`b said, “The last Ayah revealed from the Qur’an was this Ayah,
(Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger from among yourselves …) [9:128]”

Its the responsibility of every Moslem in learning Quran and tajweed and we also must teach our kids Quran and not only the Quran teaching we should let then be aware of the basic of Islam and why it was reviled you bet it was vituperated and verity teaching of holy Quran and with Quranic tajweed we read Quran we can understand better all the replies that are necessitated if we study koran from a qualified Quran tutor he will let you know verity substance of Islam and why koran was reviled for it we should gain the information of the Holy Scripture with there translation and the context of when those verses were reviled and why and that is only potential when we continue with not simply learning quran for beginners but gaining the information of Quran tafseer and one query that we all is required to ask our self that why we all are here in the world to do good acts or to do bad acts to promote correct or to promote incorrect and will we be answerable to any one after this life of not then the query remains the very same that the reasons why we are here in the world but if yes then whom we have to respond is there any Divine All these response can be found when we go deep in to the Quran education do Quran reading and the so let us unite hands to full fill our job.

The criminal plots of those who disbelieve

I take refuge with Allaah, the Exalted, from the accursed devil.
May the Peace and Blessings of Allah Azza wa Jal, our Lord Glorified and Praised be He, be upon our beloved  Prophet, his Family, and Companions.
The criminal plots of those who disbelieve.
(123. And thus We have set up in every town great ones of its wicked people to plot therein. But they plot not except against themselves, and they perceive (it) not.)
 (124. And when there comes to them a sign they say: “We shall not believe until we receive the like of that which the Messengers of Allah received.” Allah knows best with whom to entrust His Message. Humiliation and disgrace from Allah and a severe torment will overtake the criminals for that which they used to plot.)
Surah 6 Al Anaam Verse 123-124
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah says: Just as We appointed chiefs and leaders for the criminals who call to disbelief, hinder from the path of Allah, and oppose and defy you in your town, O Muhammad. Such was also the case with the Messengers before you, who were tested with the same. But the good end was always theirs.’ Allah said in other Ayat,
(Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the criminals.) (25:31) Allah said,
(And when We decide to destroy a town, We send a definite order to those among them who lead a life of luxury, and they transgress therein.) (17:16) meaning, We command them to obey Us, but they defy the command and as a consequence, We destroy them. It was also said that, “We send a definite order”, in the last Ayah means, “We decree for them,” as Allah stated here,
(to plot therein.) Ibn Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas explained the Ayah
(. ..great ones of its wicked people to plot therein.) “We give the leadership to these wicked ones and they commit evil in it. When they do this, We destroy them with Our torment.” Mujahid and Qatadah said that in the Ayah,
(great ones) refers to leaders. I say that this is also the meaning of Allah’s statements,
(And We did not send a warner to a township, but those who were given the worldly wealth and luxuries among them, said: “We believe not in what you have been sent with.” And they say: “We have too much wealth and too many children and we are not going to suffer punishment.”) (34:34-35) And,
(And similarly, We sent not a warner before you to any town but the luxurious ones among them said: “We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps.”) (43:23) `Plot’ in the Ayah (6:123) refers to beautified speech and various actions with which the evil ones call to misguidance. Allah said about the people of Prophet Nuh, peace be upon him,
(And they have plotted a mighty plot. ) (71:22 ) Allah said,
(But if you could see when the wrongdoers will be made to stand before their Lord, how they will cast the (blaming) word one to another! Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: “Had it not been for you, we should certainly have been believers.” And those who were arrogant will say to those who were deemed weak: “Did we keep you back from guidance after it had come to you Nay, but you were criminals.” Those who were deemed weak will say to those who were arrogant: “Nay, but it was your plotting by night and day, when you ordered us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals for Him!”) (34:31-33). Ibn Abi Hatim reported that Ibn Abi `Umar said that Sufyan said, “Every `plot’ mentioned in the Qur’an refers to actions.” Allah’s statement,
(But they plot not except against themselves, and they perceive (it) not.) means, the harm of their wicked plots, as well as misguiding those whom they lead astray, will only strike them. Allah said in other Ayat,
(And verily, they shall bear their own loads, and other loads besides their own.) (29:13) and,
(And also of the burdens of those whom they misled without knowledge. Evil indeed is that which they shall bear!) (16:25). Allah said;
(And when there comes to them a sign they say: “We shall not believe until we receive the like of that which the Messengers of Allah received.”) When there comes to them a sign they say,
(“We shall not believe until we receive the like of that which the Messengers of Allah received.”) until the angels bring us the Message from Allah, just as they brought it to the Messengers. In another Ayah, Allah said,
(And those who expect not a meeting with Us said: “Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord”) (25:21). Allah’s statement,
(Allah knows best with whom to entrust His Message.) means, He knows best with whom His Message should be given and which of His creatures are suitable for it. Allah said in other Ayat,
(And they say: “Why is not this Qur’an sent down to some great man of the two towns” Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord) (43:31-32). They said, why was not this Qur’an revealed to a mighty, respectable leader, honored by us,
(…from one of the two towns) Of Makkah and At-Ta’if. This is because they belittled the Messenger out of envy, transgression, rebellion and defiance. Allah described them,
(And when they see you, they only mock: “Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger”) (25:41) and
(And when those who disbelieved see you, they only mock at you: “Is this the one who talks about your gods” While they disbelieve at the mention of the Most Gracious (Allah).) (21:36), and,
(Indeed Messengers were mocked before, but the scoffers were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock.) (21:41)
The Disbelievers Admit to the Prophet’s Nobility of Lineage.
The disbelievers did all of this although they admitted to the Prophet’s virtue, honorable lineage, respectable ancestry and purity of household and upbringing, may Allah, His angels, and the believers send blessings upon him. The disbelievers used to call the Prophet , before he received revelation, `Al-Amin’ — the Truthful. The leader of the Quraysh disbelievers, Abu Sufyan, had to admit to this fact when Heraclius, emperor of Rome, asked him, “How honorable is his (the Prophet’s) ancestral lineage among you” Abu Sufyan answered, “His ancestry is highly regarded among us.” Heraclius asked, “Do you find that he lied, before he started his mission” Abu Sufyan replied, “No.” The emperor of Rome relied on the honor and purity of the Prophet to recognize the truth of his prophethood and what he came with. Imam Ahmad recorded that Wathilah bin Al-Asqa` said that the Messenger of Allah said,
(Verily, Allah has chosen Isma`il from the offspring of Ibrahim, Bani Kinanah from the offspring of Isma`il, Quraysh from Bani Kinanah, Bani Hashim from Quraysh and, He has chosen me from Bani Hashim.) Muslim recorded this Hadith. Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said,
(I was chosen from a succession of the best generations of the Children of Adam, until the generation I was sent in.) Allah’s said,
(Humiliation and disgrace from Allah and a severe torment will overtake the criminals…) This is a stern threat and sure promise from Allah for those who arrogantly refrain from obeying His Messengers and adhering to what they came with. On the Day of Resurrection, they will suffer humiliation and eternal disgrace before Allah, because they were arrogant in the worldly life. This is why it is befitting that they earn disgrace on the Day of Resurrection. Allah said in another Ayah,
(Verily, those who scorn My worship, they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!) (40:60) disgrace and dishonor. Allah said next,
(and a severe torment for that which they used to plot.) Since plotting usually takes place in secret and involves treachery and deceit, the disbelievers were recompensed with severe torment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection, as a just reckoning,
(And your Lord treats no one with injustice) (18:49) Allah said in another Ayah,
(The Day when all the secrets will be examined. ) (86:9) Meaning, the secrets, hidden thoughts and intentions will be exposed. In the Two Sahihs, it is recorded that the Messenger of Allah said,
(A banner will be raised for every deceitful person from his anus on the Day of Resurrection, and it will say; `This is the treacherous plot of so-and-so, son of so-and-so, son of so-and-so.,) The wisdom in this is that since a plot occurs in secret, and people are usually unaware of it, then on the Day of Resurrection the plot itself will become public news testifying to the actions of those who committed it.
